Shades of last year -- Alaska flow starts cyclones hitting the west coast

Last year, spills through Siberia and Alaska gave us dozens of storms (cyclones) that hit BC and California.  The heat spilled over the mountains, making the winter mild.  I was assuming that Siberia would be closed this year, but Alaska seems to open, on and off.

An Alaska spill is greatly constrained, so the cyclones will most likely just hit BC.

You can see heat-leakage coming through, but being dragged down by cold.  This is a standard clipper, which is never nice for Toronto.

Also, you can see that Europe is still a mess of plumes, and cyclones.

ps.  and as NA realizes there is no elnino Santa, natgas starts its zoom.  When they run out of storage, then you'll see something.  Last year, the Pacific warmth spoiled the reckoning.
