Linux - back to the custom kernel

I was doing a custom kernel for a long time with the amdgpu.  Debian doesn't like amdgpu users for some reason.  A custom kernel is taken from the Linux Kernel Archives and made locally.

Then I went with the Debian kernel for some time.  It is convenient and slowly updates the kernel.  Now, I have found that kernel 6.5 trashes the amdgpu.  It's just a blank screen and you have to do a full power reset.  The 6.1 kernel works fine, but I have having troubles with the wifi.

Now I am compiling again.  As this takes 'forever', I haven't got it up yet.  Supposedly it works.

ps.  compiling takes a few hours.

pps. 6.511 is good

more:  my intel wifi wasn't happy, until I installed sid.
