As far as blobs go, this is an M6. If the weather people ever went to physics, then they could calculate the full energy (potential impact) of these events.
The Arctic is on a cold roll. Lots of black. This is huge potential energy, as the air becomes very dense. We are ready for some good action.
No Pacific air is coming over the mountains to save us.
This is not a clean front, and the -50 air is not leading the charge. As such, we are only talking about -10 for Toronto, and the US. The big variable is the Gulf warm plume coming up. That will lead to huge snowstorms.
The UK is still a mess with cyclones. The total cyclone energy has dropped.
ps. had this been an M9 blob, we would see -50 at Edmonton.
