All wind power shuts down at a balmy -30C

 Reference

It turns out that at -30 all wind mills shatter like Jenga blocks.  They have to shut down, and actually hope for no wind.  The ice fog takes care of the solar cells.

Toronto will hit -30 when the lakes freeze, but the intense snow to get to that point doesn't do any favours for wind mills and solar.  The electric grid also goes a big crunchy, and we should hear about transformers blowing up.  Thank goodness we haven't banned natgas yet.

pps. looking at my forecast for the month, I'd recommend that you don't trim your nose hairs.

Oh oh! That crap again. They don't mention that it was predicted to be a warm winter due to El Nino. Also, the hypocrisy of dancing for a warm spike and one-day heatwaves. But, they must do what they must, to save their exalted position. That's why I go to heating degree days, and natgas prices. I do predict that we'll have the coldest winter in 40 years, and they'll just shrug.
