Standard M7.1 extension earthquake

This is an M7.1 earthquake, about 100 km long which is the proper length for that size of earthquake.  In fact, they probably adjust the magnitude by looking back at the fault length.

It is in a 'squeezing zone' of high compression, and although all the topography around it shows standard thrust valleys, this zone is in perpendicular extension.  It's like if you squeeze a walnut with the nutcracker along the seam, it pops open.

As with the weather, it is my duty to note how the whole earthquake business lacks physics.  None of this matters, until we have a 'learning earthquake' that is fully monitored.  We won't have that, because they monitor in a manner that will confirm their beliefs, just like the weather.

We are experiencing a distinct lack of interesting earthquakes, which is why I went over to weather.  Now that I have completed that task, I hope the earthquake cycle starts again.  It's just a matter of 'random clustering' since it is unexpected to have a perfectly uniform world earthquake rate.

Trumples can dissolve all the big US commie institutions and it won't make a speck of difference to the world, since they are all wrong.  However, this won't happen, so no worries.
