I have no idea what this is, but the Toronto forecast is showing cold in a few days. In the meantime, we can enjoy some warm air, and forget about the cold.
The Arctic is getting colder, and this just looks like a small M7 blob, but the mixing with the clipper is weird.
The drawing-out of the clipper and the cold seems to have no effect on the Arctic cold-blob cannon. In other words, it's not relieving any pressure, so we are still on track for a huge super-mega-blob.
The California ultra-gyre is just spinning and not moving south. You can see some winds starting, but the warm air from the south is fighting it. Some irony here, since it is the warm air stopping the cold Arctic winds, and yet this remains the uber-poster-child for clange.
