Nino zone starts the collapse

 Big money on this.

Let's see - The Lefty Loonies, or the Crazy Guy.

For a month now, I have been tortured by a heat blob lingering on the edge of the Nino zone.  It keeps rotating like a dead pig in the river, and it should have gone south.

That's the zone, and the blob is teetering on the edge.

I'm calling it now that the party is over.  Or not.  Anyway, I'm getting in some practice for when it really happens.

Those blobs are going down SE.  That big red smear south of the equator is the leftovers of 2023-24, in a big warm garbage pit.  It is now running into the main feed from the south.  That has warmed things up.  Their big splotch anomaly is caused by having a severe cold upwelling in the base map.  However, it meshed perfectly with the change of feed, and it was all the same, until this warm water came in.

Anyway, although we get weird charts out of this, we are not hitting the 'magic point' of 30 plus degrees, to initiate massive heat transfer to the atmosphere.  Nothing is happening.

If that graph continues to fall, then I'll gloat.

ps I remember this was one of our scenarios for nuclear power plants.  Under extreme conditions, the outflow from the reactors (hot water) would curve around and get sucked into the cold water intake.  That's why we put diffusers on the Darlington outflow.
