In the 70's we realized that clear-air convection storms were a hazard to life. This is the reason why jets fall out of the sky, and how the military could be caught in a grass fire. All the deadly fires in California have been whipped up by them.
Then we had the big turn against physics, led by good old nasa. They went for 'influencer science', because they could dictate the results that were best for getting money out of Congress. Everybody else turned to it, as well.
A clear-air convection storm is my new name for Arctic blobs. It's much cuter. These simply come from big differences in temperature. Weather people just deal with lows and highs. A low is always a storm, and a high is fine weather. These are just patterns on the weather maps, and do not require any physics.
For our modern instrumentation era, we have been in a benign cycle of warmth. This was caused by a circulation pattern in the Pacific. That pattern has been blown away. We are now in the 'bad' cycle, that has affected our ancient history.
Think of the poor Neanderthals. Big and huge, they were well suited for a European cold era. In came the warmth, and little guys from Africa killed them all. Then we had the little Romans during a big warm cycle. Lots of farming in northern Britain. Then it was all cold, and the Big Barbarians sacked them.
Of course, we had the big Viking era. Conquering all the way to the Mediterranean, during a cold cycle. Come the warmth, and they were chased out by the little guys. The 'Little Ice Age' was again a giant conquer-fest for the Northern Europeans.
These are the big 300 year cycles. The little 20 year cycles, caused lots of little fun. The dust bowl of the 30's. Hilter running out of warm socks in Russia, etc.
All this is physics, and big new thing is clear-air convection storms. Wait for one near you!
Obviously, my solution is to kick all the weather people to the curb. But that does nothing, as we know with Trump. I am hoping that everybody will realize they have been duped and go to Rationality, but nasa showed us that the thing to do is to blame the people who knew, because they were out-voted. Then go back to the usual.
