This is exactly the type of weather mechanism that will bring us the the tremendous heat of Super El Nino. However, does it feel a little cold? That's because the heat energy is 10 times less than it should be.
You can see the Pacific plumes crossing the mountains, at an intensity so weak, you can barely see them. The Atlantic action is caused by the big Arctic blob that's squeezing it out.
Still a huge blob of Arctic air, but the Arctic basin vortex, is gone.
This is the exact weather that caused them to declare 'warmest summer ever', by ignoring the East.
And here, the Arctic is in disarray. Don't worry for the poor vortex, it has just gone on holiday.
The authoritative chart for world temperature is diving again. However, that darn Nino chart is not dropping.
The ice extent chart is zooming up like a Muxie rocket about to blow.
So, for the winter, I am on track. We obviously need the Arctic Vortex to come back from holiday, in order to get a good Halloween blizzard to bust all the trees. Last year, we missed that by a couple of weeks.
Like last winter, we soon expect all the warmies to go back under their rocks. We will have another lovely short stagnant summer, and we'll believe them all again.
ps and that heat blob 'pig in the river' has spun again, and is solid. But it keeps moving on.
Drives me nuts.
