Tropical plumes are not atmospheric rivers

That plume is just water vapour.  I'm glad that influscience has started to acknowledge them, but they are calling all of them 'atmospheric rivers' which is another wonderful meaningless term.  That big one about to hit BC would do nothing unless a big cold blob smashes into it.

But we have the cold blobs, and at the boundaries, life gets exciting.  Lots of rain, snow and ice.  Without the water vapour, the cold blobs are just clear, cold weather.  And without the cold, the plumes are just warm, moist, cloudy air.

Not much happening over the rest of NA.  The Gulf cold blob is warming, and conditions for the Next Hurricane are setting up.  It all depends on how much heat energy is still in the water.
