We are luckier than the UK, being close to the States. The guy is talking about 'broad talent ambition" which results in successful start-ups. The UK is trying to create a Japan miti, or US Darpa. Usually, these things are a total failure. That's because the 'narrow ambitious' go to government.
Any Toronto engineer with ambition goes to San Fran. The number of Canadians in the tech scene is amazing. The investors throw money at people, like gambling at the horse races. Here, it is like Shark Tank, with very tight-fisted drunks. But that's the whole Canada scene.
The other thing is the huge tax burden. We have millionaires, but hardly ever billionaires, who are not associated with a monopoly. And no matter how broke we are, the social spending keeps going up.
ps. and of course, we have this problem. All our banks are going to collapse when they finally come clean that housing has dropped more than 50%. Maybe we'll need an election.
