Drone auto-return is a bitch!

All the cheap Chinese drones flooding into Russia have a tiny problem.  They have auto-return programmed in.  And the Russians can't chip themselves out of a paper bag.

I am reminded of the warning not to let the dog loose in grizzly bear country.  The dog goes out, sees a bear, and comes zooming back to you, with the bear close behind.

Went to buy a drone (dji mini) from Amazon the other week to survey my forest. OMG... I have to register with some gov bunch whose website doesn't work, stay 8kms away from a protected natural area (I'm in a nature reserve), make an appointment and attend a meeting with some other bunch for something I can't remember (can't be done online, must drive 40kms each way: unless I'm a business), notify and get permission off another bunch everytime I want to fly the thing, register as a data controller because it has a camera and face a 225,0000 euro fine off the cops if I screw up somewhere in all of that. I bought a wet and dry vacuum cleaner instead for my house.

I'll get around to Frigate and all that, when I've finished clearing my new forest's undergrowth with my trusty Stihl FS550, shredder head attached.

Health and safety... They're ******* dangerous. Invest in body armour. You can lose pieces of you when things go south. I had a shredder head snap on me and I didnt go near the machine again for a year. I've seen one fire a rock straight through a 6L plastic water bottle at 15m range. I won't even mention the circular saw attachment! Spent this a. m. playing with Apify... Pretty neat, not difficult, just simple html DOM, javascript (or python) and results back to SQL server for analysis..

Allrightythen, looks like it could go through any protection I would want to wear. I'll wait for my trusty AI to operate it...
