This article is hilarious in the steps they will go to, to avoid the topic of clear air convection. That was big in the 70's and all studies stopped when it was thought that all physics ended in 1850.
This people use no physics as a science. They just monkey around with planes and make adjustments. They can go as far as they can, and scaling up to the bigger planes will be a problem. This way they avoid any unpleasantness.
They are dealing with turbulence on the scale of under a metre. The old studies that were killed were dealing with huge convection cells. They were using lasers, but computing and AI have gone up orders of magnitude since then.
The hypothesis is that 90% of heat energy is transferred from the surface of the Earth to the stratosphere (new vacuum, no convection). This can easily be shown by banned experiments, but you'll never win a debate.
Death in the airways just makes less people travel. Good for carbon.
