I've seen lots of these and they always go around to east across North America. I can show tons of them, but I won't. Is like those wagon wheels on John Wayne movies? The swirling is the reason they call it a vortex, but it's just the hot air plumes moving west to east. The indent spots are the hot air hitting, and the blue bulges are the in between.
Anyway nasa won't ever admit anything.
ps. this is a genuine nasa product, and mum's the word.
