KDE is now using Pipewire, and Gnome uses pulseaudio. If you install kde after gnome, they will fight. It's on and off since 2011, and right now it's on for me. My other machine that was installed with just kde is fine.
You can use everything that is said about this, but nothing works consistently. The only solution for me is to reinstall with just kde. I keep my home folder fairly empty, and I back up other files on my separated disks. The main system is on an ssd for greater speed.
So I'll install soon. The important thing is to keep a copy of my skillfully crafted fstab and samba.conf. Those are mucky to do over again.
