US National October temperature is over the 'Magic 10'

For many years now, the PR department of nooa has reported '2nd warmest October', then '3rd warmest' etc.  When they go over 10, in order to not seem ridiculous, they call it 'top third'.  They'll have to do this now.

ps.  nothing from them yet.  Must be thinking it over.

pps.  Yeah, top third!  I called it.

The average October temperature across the contiguous U.S. was 55.3 degrees F, 1.2 degrees above the 20th-century average, ranking in the warmest third in the climate record.
