A tide gauge records 'local sea level'. The warmies have used their semantics power to redefine it as 'sea level'. They have shoved the old sea level definition into the corner as 'Absolute sea level' and never mention it. That is why they are always right, they define the foundations of discussion.
The land on which the tide gauges sit goes up and down like a toilet seat. That point is never mentioned. However, this gauge is the only one in the world (that I have found) where the land is as still as a rock. It is probably just between rising and sinking sections.
This acts as a true thermometer of the oceans. They get warm, and the level rises on the short scale. Thus, you can see every historical warm and cold cycle, if you want to. We have entered a cold section with peaks. We know that the peak has passed.
