I use Greenland as my Arctic thermometer. When it goes 'white' at 60 below, the Arctic is ready to blow out again. That means full outbreaks or spills. These take place as 'air glaciers' running at 30 below, with a lot of power.
You can see them as clear air blobs, with a curved front (lobate). That is pure physics.
When they run at full power, they clear out all the tropical plumes. When they meet the tips of the hot plumes, there is a storm. Weather people only notice the storms.
