The Gulf Stream is still pushing some heat energy up above the UK, but it probably doesn't do anything if the Arctic becomes very cold.
The major physics story has always been the complete turnover of the feed to the Pacific Belt. This will never come up in any media story. The Gulf Stream looks the same as ever.
