This is the case of every mechanical engineering failure that I've looked at. Add the whole 'can't run in an Ottawa winter' thing, and it's something.
The Ottawa winter is about to hit pre-1800 levels, where it snowed continuously all winter. The poor schnookie will be buried.
I ran into a dynamic axle failure in the old company. They chose not to fix it, but put in twice the manpower for inspections. With the old company, there was never a failure by the cool kids, it could be solved by 10 times the money. I'm sure they've gone up to 100 times by now. Fun times.
ps. their solution is to pour more grease on the rails. That makes the system more compliant, and should make the dynamic forces worse.
