That was a fun connection. Martinique is really hopping, and there is a heavy Toronto connection. A school class was visiting Toronto for a week, to improve their English. Lots of flights to Montreal, second only to Paris.
On the boat trip we visited the Grenadines which was hit directly last year by a cat4 hurricane. They have not recovered, and the shallow water means that big supplies can't come in. After that, I looked at all the places with a hurricane eye. They also have floods, fires, volcanoes, tsunamis and earthquakes. My 'long-odds eyes' were calculating hurricane effects everywhere.
Anyway, it was an adventurous trip with lots of driving on narrow winding roads, where the locals go twice as fast as I wanted to. Only the big tourist spots were crowded. You got a nice sense of local life.
ps -- sorry, brain not working yet. I was going for more than a puff piece.
