This is great. I haven't seen a real hypothesis come out in a long time. They are calling this an 'idea', but it is a hypothesis, mainly "Dark Matter Does Not Exist". Everything these days is explained by 'stories', and the usual crap of 'No other explanation'. The question of the definition of 'exist' is so buggered up right now. I go by "If you can't measure, it doesn't exist"
Dark matter was always a story. It came from an observation of 'extra gravity'. So, they made up something about a type of matter that we'll never detect.
The new hypothesis can be tested by future experiments. It's not the usual 'explain after the fact' junk that buries us right now. Since nobody wants to risk a hypothesis, it's all 'exploration' and incremental improvements.
If the hypothesis fails, then I hope these people can go on to new things. We live in a world where you can't recover from a failed hypothesis because the lawyers will get you. Maybe things will change.
We need a hypothesis 'Good Samaritan' law.

Hear hear... I've been on the receiving end of academic kickings even when you demonstrate stuff in front of academics. You have to get over the impertinence barrier which is always higher than you. Anyway re dark matter, my "idea" is that there is a "something", dunno maybe call it, resistive space, but I'm keeping it to myself. :-)
