Too many people dead, and they want to kill this thing. I think they should do bicycle jumping over lava flows! Or tour this baby! That would be something!
I think that active volcanoes are best admired from a safe distance. But it sounds as if people are getting killed by the steep descent on bikes, not by the volcano.
That Jakarta volcano looks impressive! I saw Mt. Arenal in Costa Rica once, it gave a little burp which was tremendously basso profundo. Then we drove about an hour back to sleep at a safe distance.
