The microplastic scare was manufactured to create lots of anxiety and lots of money for the media. It was shown to be phoney when they discovered it was contamination from the gloves. That's the fun of all these temporary anxieties without physics. They all just drop off the radar, and nobody says boo.
Now, it's silica, which is deadly enough in high amounts. Ask the old coal miners. I always thought the asbestos scare was phoney, since nobody showed or cared if it was worse than silica. The only 'victims' they ever found smoked like chimneys.
They are selectively choosing the synthetic quartz countertops, because what the heck? Granite is the same, and tombstones bury people. Look to lawsuits, etc. Like Roundup. They just pick something out of the herd, and go to town. There is never any context.
Volcanic dust is the worst, yet humans evolved with this crap. We all have excellent dust handling systems. You really screw that up with smoking. You will find that none of this stuff is any worse than a dusty road, or a nice campfire. Every veggie has some wonderful chemicals in it, and we digest it.
