Figuring out the stationary clockwise vortex

This is a zone of high pressure.  That usually means it is cold and clear, and it moves into us to give nice weather.  Lows are big storms.  All of this is weather-talk.

With physics, I can't figure it out.  I have the counter-clockwise vortex figured out to some extent, but this is a head spinner.

You can see that Greenland just gets colder by descending air that spreads out.  Looks like a violation of the conservation of mass, but the wind vectors are only derived from sat observation, and doesn't do 3d.  One thing that could be happening is that the Arctic cold air draining out through the vortex, totally opposite to heat draining out with the other type of vortex.

If this is an upward drain, then our winter is over.  No more big spills freezing us.  I hope so, and wait for things to get worse next year.  But that's for future-me.

ps quite convinced now that the clockwise vortex is drilling out cold air and dispersing it, like a cold chimney.  Perhaps a termite eating the cold.  We'll find out soon enough.
