A Fine Ice Age You Got Us Into

 The 'ice ageists' got wiped out when we entered our warm cycle in the 90's.  This left the floor open to the warmies.  If you go with physics, then in the past few million years, the Earth has gone through temperature cycles.  Over human history, we have short cycles of a decade or two, and the long 300 year cycles, such as Roman Warming, Little Ice Age, etc.

Using the power of influencers, the popular opinion is that all cycles have stopped.  However, I still put forward my hypothesis of how we get Continental Glaciation.  

Our cycles are caused by shifts in the ocean currents.  The Pacific Belt can store heat.  During a warm cycle, it dumps it, and during a cold cycle it accumulates heat energy.  The decade cycles are mere disturbances in the PB, not changing much.  Our major cycle involves the PB turning over, and the Atlantic Belt giving up.

We are entering a major ice cycle right now, but we will not have glaciation.  That's because all the land was squooshed down with the last one, and it takes 10.000 years to load the gun again.  At that point, we will have a standard major ice cycle, and the snow will not melt on the highlands during the summer.

Snow is a wonderful thing.  Right now, North America is in a 'snow lock'.  That means the Sun can't do much during the day because of the snow on the ground.  This allows a cold air mass to just sit around, slowly advancing with the snow.  Just a little while ago, we needed high velocity Arctic air to advance a cold blob.

A new blob is squeezing the Pacific air into us.  This will be taken as the end of cold, for the natgas traders.

Everything is slow.

The entire Arctic Basin is a slow clockwise gyre dumping cold air on us.  The mechanism has changed, and I am at a loss.

A snow lock, or ice lock, is a very powerful thing.  You see it on Greenland all the time, as it deflects Atlantic plumes.  This is an aborted start of continental glaciation, and will fail because of the land elevation.  Physics is fun, but we have no measurements, so it is impossible to confirm.  A heat lock, as in Australia, is the same mechanism, but on the hot side.  

ps thinking about it, we are entering a 'low kinetic energy'  phase.  No idea what that means.

ps Australia is getting wiped clean, so onto the next heatwave, somewhere in the world.

ps this new Arctic blob is an exact copy of the last big snowstorm.  Get out your shovels, Atlanta.  Of course, the uncertainties are huge.
