Anchorage -- The Coming M8

This is not helpful in a political sense.  But nobody reads me anyway.

This is the aftershock zone.  It is an extension earthquake, and nicely fills 30 km, which is what we expect for an M7.

This is where the m8 will zoom, starting at Anchorage.  An m8 is a 'cleaning earthquake' which maintains the topography.  In earthquake country all topography is formed by earthquakes.

Towards the bottom you see very clean lines of the rift.  These aren't erosion, and are as clean as the main subduction zone.  From Japan we learn that big earthquakes are needed for clean topography, every few hundred years.  From Christchurch we learned that lesson as the big basin was maintained.

The usgus propagates the myth that earthquakes are caused by faults, rather than mechanisms, because that's what they've been doing since 1908.  They're just getting their dinner money signed today, for the early warning system.  No use here, and no use anywhere, despite the huge Hollywood effort they put out.  Nobody will get a legitimate warning for a destructive earthquake of greater than 50 cm/s, because the earthquake is too close.  But I'm not going to argue with them, they must get every penny directly from politicians. 

I expect this earthquake in a couple of months, just like Christchurch after everybody has reoccupied their shattered buildings.  I would advise that no engineer go anywhere near there, you know how the US likes to sue everybody and their dog.

Like Christchurch, this m8 will pancake the buildings.  Hope and pray.
