Earthquake - M8 Gulf of Alaska

Not really that big for this area.  I left the 200 km scale on, which is probably the size of this earthquake.  The expected M9 is ten times bigger.  This size of earthquake should not get the big soil basin of Anchorage going, but there will be some damage.  You really can't expect a significant tsunami.

You can see it is such a nice smooth section of the subduction zone, very sharp.  But this section has shot its load, there are many such sections not yet blown recently.  You can expect an M9 'cleaner' earthquake on these things every 500 to 800 years.

ps. Just for comparison, here is the Cascadia zone, the muckiest subduction zone on the planet.  You really can't think that this is 'cleaned' with M9's more than once in a couple of thousand years.  And yet all that hype....

pps. The big Cascades threat is social physics.  But that's good for the FB crowd.
