Cold at the cottage.  This jet looks horrible, coming straight for us.  

Woke Alert - Killer Beavers

 Ah, cute, fuzzy beavers.  Let's put them in the most crowded country in the world, and give them nothing to do, like teenagers at the mall.

We Canadians know that you look the beaver in the eye, and you kill it.  The only good beaver is Mr. Darcy's hat.

Engineering - Beavers are just giant groundhogs with a trick.  They will build dams over the sound of any running water.  No running water, they will make it by tunnelling through a dam.  That kills people, but what do the beavers care?

Beavers also get the credit for stopping floods - Wrong.  In Canada they make a huge number of dams, all with the exact same strength.  During a big rain, they all fail in a cascade.  We hate beavers.

A flat clipper

 The cottage region hit 3C last night.  Just the kids were up.  This is a new record for August that we'll never see in the media.

That persistent Pacific feed has stopped.  The Arctic is resurgent.  Right now, the Arctic air is riding on top of the warmth, as a flat clipper.  I just made that term up, since I have never seen it before.

Alaska has gone back to freezing, and the Pacific air is playing out.

I'm just going to assume that the warm Pacific air is going to be shoved out by cold, but you never know.

You can see a very intense Arctic flow up in Alaska, as the air glides along the clipper.  

ps Holy Cow, not one mention of climate change.

Alberta sinks to stupidity

 

Yeah, who says we have to look south for our amusement?  Too bad we're too small for South Park, or the late night shows.  They don't expect much from us anyway.

Basically, one of the disadvantages of 'dictator overreach' is that people will obey your orders.  Not nice.

Canada in recession

 

It had to happen.  Any war is expensive.  Like I said before, it is time to ditch all woke, and go for creating wealth.  Not going to happen.

Housing is in a seller and buyer hiatus.  This is difficult for the woke feds, since it is oh so marxist to keep up housing prices.  Look for big money dumping like the last time.  Under normal circumstances, we would expect people to dump assets and regroup.

That opposition weeny isn't doing anything other than being a small yappy dog.  Alberta has a brain deficit.  Ford is too involved with dictator overreach.  The future is fuzzy.

ps meanwhile, the US economy is roaring without creating any wealth.  Freed of international competition, all prices will double, and interest rates will be cut.  Amazing.

New Climate Change

 

I don't see any stories about one-day heat waves, so they are going on another thing.  Basically, just going with climate change as a legal fact, and trumping up the endless consequences.  As usual, they are dancing on the tail end of the probability curve, since that is so much more exciting.

I like their sales pitch, that any opposition is fighting dirty, so they are free to do anything they want.  

In reality, there is no physics being done anywhere, so anything to do with ocean currents is in la-la land.  However, there is a theme that ocean currents are important.  The Gulf Stream is now constantly fluctuating ever since 2016.  Right now, it is dumping high, so the UK isn't Labrador, but more like Nova Scotia.

ps you can see this now in the media that carbon greenhouse gases will cause extreme cold.

Arctic attempts to close off Pacific plumes

 Mostly, the Arctic is sleeping and recharging.

We are getting Pacific plume action, but it is very high up, and quite cold.

Greenland is full blue, which is a sign of October weather in September.  I dread going up to the cottage, I don't think I'm ready for this cold.

Although Alaska is warmer than normal, we're talking cold, as seen in the minimum plot.

All in all, nothing exciting.

I've been involved with sports - full of jocks.  Coaches are jocks, parents are jocks.  What do you expect?  As with climate science, this is all based on stories, with low probabilities.  

Rational Approach - yes, everybody involved are idiots, to 90%.  This is binomial theorem, when you combine the worst parents, stupid kids, and coaches who have been hit in the head too many times.

Follow the method used for drugs in sports.  Have trained psychologists zoom in on the athletes unexpectedly.  Get them drunk, or 'college girl' enthusiastic, same thing.  Reverse the 'never tell' thing from the parents and coaches, to never tell what happened in the interview.  Do not act right away, to save the kids.  They can dissemble like any teenager, and say that nothing happened.  Random tests stop the kids from being prepped.

Linux - losing Frigate

 My frigate was running for years.  Sooner or later, the Linux Gods were going to change names and methods.  So, when I finally did a 'full-upgrade' on the little linux box, my frigate wasn't working.

I'm running Sid (Unstable) on the box, and it has worked great, without a hitch.  I use the box to run frigate and movies.  I love having several boxes around the house, rather than one huge monster.  Running Sid means a chance of total muck-up, and this spreads things around.

With the death of frigate, I had to start over again.  The worst was a bunch of different 'recipes' on how to install docker.  Turns out that many of these don't work with sid.  I think that was about 4 days of wandering.  Finally, I installed with a simple apt command, but the docker names were weird, and I had to find that out.

Once docker worked, then it was installing Portainer, and that was just a docker command.  Portainer is a neato way to edit stacks, and update things.

The most important thing I learned the last time was to keep copies of my docker and frigate configuration files out of the system.  Then I just plopped in the docker file and everything worked.

ps Frigate is a streaming solution running on Linux, for the ultra-paranoid.  It works with very simple and cheap power over ethernet cameras that follow network standards.  There is no room for creative Chinese software, that you get on stand-alone cameras.  No subscriptions.  No Windows.  

ps Windows is for happy cattle who know they could never be slaughtered because there are so many of them.

This is interesting.  I was thought doctors were full of themselves, and tended to work to a hidden agenda of feather-bedding.  I was not impressed how they handled Covid.  The vaccine came through the application of very hard science using the Scientific Method.  We are lucky that these people still work that way.

I think this is more in line with the whole 'throw out the baby, bathwater, and house'.  There is really nobody to replace the lefties of government bureaucracy.  Anyway, this is just something to note.

This will continue until all leftwinger intellectuals are gone.  We just have rightwinger thugs in the US.  In Canada, we still have our intellectuals, for better or worse.

This acts as a giant ocean thermometer.  All the historic warm and cold spells show up here.  We are in a cold spell.

ps nothing funny in the news.  I'm in a bland mood.  As I have predicted, we are in the stage where Influencer Science says we are getting warmer, while the physics is getting colder.  Right now, I want you to believe whatever you want.

At the very last minute, they pulled it off, and the media is happy.  Good for them.

Pacific Plume Comes to Town

 

After being absent for a long time, we have some Pacific plume action.  This is a very weak plume, but it is kicking the Arctic blob to the curb.  Lots of rain for us.

Just like Trump, the Arctic is planning retribution.  That Arctic Ice Machine is starting up again.

The warmie press can only talk about BC, and how hot it is.

All my tomatoes are picked.  I'm shutting down my soaker hose watering system.  We must prepare for an early winter that will freeze your socks off.

Reverse clipper coming down on us

 

A standard clipper has the warm Pacific plume dragging down cold air, in a sort of ice cream sandwich.  This is a very powerful Arctic blob, dragging down the Pacific air.  My poor memory does not recall something like this, but I don't think it is a big deal.

We can see that the Ice Machine Vortex still has a spot.  Greenland is showing its full colours.

North America will not be in the weather news today, it's too cold.

ps that middle edge of the clipper should finally give us real rain.

State of the Oceans - Aug 25, 2025 Part 2

 Okay, so I got over my fear of college girls and I am presenting some physics.

As we saw with the Spain heatwave headlines, you can make some serious mistakes if you just look at peak daytime temperatures.  These are always used by the warmies.  True heat raises the 'cooling degree day' value, which is directly correlated with your air conditioning bill.  College girls don't pay for air conditioning -- whoops.

I have found that the best indicator of 'effective heat' or heat energy, is the temperature of surrounding oceans.  The continents zoom up and down with the seasonal position of the sun.  Death Valley is dirt-dry with an overhead sun.  Hide during the day, and dance at night.

This is a mathematical schmoosing of the world temperatures.  It is better than the schmoosh of daytime peaks that nooa loves.  It shows things well down below our peak years.

I love the North Atlantic for our winter projection.  Cold water means cold shivers.  

For the UK and Europe, the extreme polar Atlantic gives a good forecast -- very cold, get lots of natgas from Russia.

This is the hurricane belt, and it is mediocre.  Don't expect too much.

The Gulf of Maine is a true measure of the 'strength' of the NA summer.  It's not good.

The Nino band is super-low.  A cold world.  If you want to look into this, you can find that the classic 'El Nino' cycle is as dead as a parrot.  Only the warmies try to keep it alive.

I just include the Pacific belt current for reference.  You can see that just a cold current has more energy that a Trumpian Hissy Fit.

State of the Oceans - Aug 25, 2025 Part 1

 This day, the end of summer, is a fine time to show why all this is happening.  Next year, summer will end earlier.

Yes, please note the heatwave was one week long.  Now, it is cold.  This was a 'stagnant air' heatwave, or a solar furnace.  It is noted by very high daytime peaks, and low night temps.  A real heatwave has 100% humidity, lasts a month, with tropical night time temps.  

Stagnant heatwaves were predicted by yours truly, because there is no heat energy in the oceans.  That means continental land masses become Death Valley.  It has nothing to do with general temperatures.

That leaves the most important point.  Without the Laws of Physics, how can you determine what is a drift in overall temperatures?  You can't, you just make poop up.

Hottest summer ever

 The influencers are saying good-bye to summer.

This is a nice video because you see the Arctic Ice Machine cracking open and dumping cold air on us.  Obviously, a perfect vortex can't do anything, but it gets so cold that it opens up, and then there is impact.  The video also shows the big storm about to hit the UK, and a magnificent clockwise gyre feeding it from underneath.  You can put this on your screensavers, kiddies.

Arctic cold factory kicks up into high gear

 Cold is simply the absence of heat energy.  Those that follow this blog know that the Earth does not have any more stored heat energy.  That was all in the oceans.  As such, we are entering a major ice cycle.

I have found that 'cold factories' are Arctic vortexes.  There is a fine mechanism there that generates dense cold air which eventually spills out.  I have never seen a vortex so clear on this chart, and that must mean something.

Gemini is free this weekend, but with restrictions on saving, etc.  And sound, they are supposed to be cheering "Yeah, Fish"  Darn college girls, one day this, the next day that.

Our cold front continues to descend, with lots of rain.  We need that at the cottage.

Cottage report - Aug 22, 2025

 Looks like we have a nice day or two before all heckeroonie breaks loose.

Maybe I'll get the drone up.  Have to celebrate the last day of summer.  

This is just a big cold front, no defined edge or lobate front.   That means it is just drifting down, and isn't being squeezed like ketchup.  

ps the water is screaming cold.  Not going in.

Artie (AI) not worth a poop

 

This is what I said all along.  No central system is worth anything, just like the old mainframes.  However, companies think they can get rid of all their people.  This report should take a few billion off of the dreamers.

This is funny, but the big news is that Artie is the same as email used to be in the old days.  Everybody used their own accounts, but ignored the stupid IT department.  Then they all went with windows and exchange, and productivity went to pot.

All these people are using it to corrupt the system, just like powerpoint and spreadsheets.  Everything goes into advancing the weasels.  "What a nice chart!".  I hated all that stuff, and look what happened to me.  So, go ahead and use it to advance your career, everybody does.

ps I also like that these people will use Artie to defend their jobs to the bosses, who have the usual 'no clue'.  Thus, the thought that Arties will take all the jobs is gone with the wind.

ps and the Arties will suggest how to sabotage any company Artie effort.  I love it!

Linux - everything finally works on Minisforum computer

Yeah, two years after I bought it, everything finally works.  They got the fan working, and I no longer have wild doom scrolling on Google News.

I just put this out to show how Linux has to fight some computers that are just windows.  I still can't update the bios, which requires windows.  

Cold Gates of Heck Fully Open for Europe

 

That gate was closed for most of the summer.  Which meant that NA got the blobs of cold, because cold gotta go somewhere.  

With that relief valve open, NA is totally stagnant.  The hurricane is finally moving to cold water, and it is smearing out.  

We are finally getting our Blue Greenland back.

Scandy-land is getting Kold Karma, for being too warm all summer.  

You can see the hurricane track in the water temperature.  Nobody is following in its tracks - no energy.

In the old days, a hurricane like this would follow the hot water of the Gulf Stream, right to Old Blighty.  Who knows these days?

ps the forecast shows very cold for Toronto in a few days

This isn't a 'forced blob' but may be a wide swathe of cold air sucked in by the hurricane.  I don't see it.
