I was just wondering how an M6.2 could not cause any damage, but then I saw the historical seismicity for this area.
So, a 6.2 is nothing for this region! Since it is a subduction zone, it might even be deeper than 48 km.

Could you comment on the many book authors who say Panama is not an earthquake-prone country, especially in light of the November earthquake near David? Do earthquakes deep underground have little effect on the landscapes and buildings in an area? I am considering a move to Panama and was surprised to learn that earthquakes DO occur there!
As you can see by the map, the west edge is very active, but the middle is less so. Even so, this area is all active, and you want to be on good ground.
