For years, all the gamers have fought for an advantage over the other shnook. This has been in the form of win and the latest super graphics card.
Now, you can't get the latest card. Win always had the advantage of getting the first and best driver. Linux was always months behind, because the vendors didn't care. The Steam machine is out, and there are lots of clones. I think this is significant.
ps this has a chance of 90% being wrong. My conjecture is that the games industry holds up win sales, mainly because the buyers can be bribed with games, and the general reputation. If the games all flip to Linux, there will be an effect. However, they can go to straight bribing with kickbacks, or not.
