Arctic continues to throw down A5 action

We continue the cold leakage of minor spills, while the vortex ice machine quietly builds up an inventory of cold syrup.

You can see the drifting.  The spills are very weak but they can shove the warm Gulf air around.  We expect in Toronto lots of snow flurries and freezing at night, for the next week.

Poor Europe.  At the latitude of Newfoundland, they never appreciated their warmth from Atlantic plumes.  Now they will have a fine Canadian winter.

The Arctic picture hasn't changed for a week.  The Arctic Vortex churning away, and filling the basin.  Warm air comes in and is turned to dense cold air.  The vortex continues to rise until the tip bucket is activated.  Such fun.

ps forecast for stratospheric storm ends in a whimper.  No apologies coming out.  "While this cold blast is not the most dramatic of the season, it will be a big change from the short sleeve or sweater weather millions across the US have enjoyed heading into the holiday week.
