The Greatest Geotechnical Project in History

This will be amazing work for Ford-Friendly geotechnical engineers.  What's that you say?  There are no Ford-friendly geotechnical engineers?  No such engineers at all?  Sad.

So let's just change that to gov't-friendly average engineers.  Just like the Niagara tunnel disaster.

I am not getting into all this.  Too old.  I vented over all the big geotechnical projects with no geotechnical engineers, all disasters.  Nuclear waste, Ottawa train, etc.  These are all done by people who get in fast, get into trouble, and charge another billion for extras.  It's amazing.

This tunnel is the equivalent of adding a few more lanes to the 401.  At most, it increases the capacity by 50%, in a world of exponential demand.  They are going to hit the problem of glacial disturbance in the rock, and the giant faults under the big rivers.  I studied all of that, but as in the Niagara tunnel, someone has to read the reports.  Not going to happen.

So, let's go with the tunnel!  Woo-woo, I love it.  Go Leafs!

ps  I already designed the whole thing in my head.  As usual, it will work to some degree, but not politically acceptable.  That's my whole life.  Always right about everything, and always wrong.

ps I'm going to officially call this 'The worst rock in the world', since they are going through an active earthquake fault.  The Bruce area only has active karst.  If they really want an 8 lane highway to work, then just give Mushie another trillion dollars.
