Yeah, the weather people are getting their lump of coal to stay warm and are updating the geophysics that I love. I consider this particular tide gauge to be the most important long-term measurement we have. Mainly because they have been doing exactly the same thing for a hundred years. None of this fancy 'cleaning' of the temperature records.
Nobody will believe how wonderful this measurement is. It is the rectal thermometer for all the oceans. As they warm, they expand and the water level rises. and vice versa. This shows the 70's as a baseline and we are zooming along that right now. Yeah 70's cold!
