Handling 3/8 OD tubing

My header system for the garden soaker hose has given me hours of work.  I put this in so the veggie garden can survive us going to the cottage, in a drought.  Toronto is in quite a drought now.  The soaker hose waters deep, and it works best with a timer, going about 6 hours a day at night.  Leaving it on all the time uses too much water.

This tubing is great, but it is soft and low friction, Not like the 1/4 stiff tubing I was using.

I got connectors like these, but had endless trouble and returned them.  It is so sensitive to the tiniest allowance variations.

I finally got another batch direct from China.  Do not buy these without the blue clips.  Still had trouble, but now I smear the o-ring with thick o-ring silicone oil, and push extremely hard, which is difficult with the soft and slippery tubing.  I am finally getting 100% success.

  1. Put the hose end and connectors in a pan of hot water. Everything slots together simply after that.
