Local Nuclear Total Panic Continues

Ok, I have been approached by a local newspaper for a soundbite.  No way!  I get no money for this grief, and I have no smoking gun, since nobody does any scientific work on this.  All the advantage goes to those who sit and do nothing.  This is a reasonable article.  Wish we had an organization like this in Canada.

Article

Nearly six years before an earthquake ravaged Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, U.S. regulators came to a sobering realization: seismic risks to nuclear plants in the eastern two-thirds of the country were greater than had been suspected, and engineers might have to rethink reactor designs.

Note that the hazard is weighted heavily towards past earthquakes.  What about all the other places?  Before these earthquakes happened, would you suspect these places?  At the same odds as Japan, we can have very large earthquakes pop off at random locations.  I don't think it is random and is weighted towards active fault mechanisms.  Our Establishment disagrees, and I will leave it at that.  I will not contribute to Total Panic.  :)

So, I actually issued a statement in a moderate tone, which I never use on this blog! I wait to see if they publish it.
